Fighting Preventable Blindness, One Vision at a Time
We are a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Hargeisa, committed to eliminating preventable blindness and improving eye health across Somaliland. Our Services
Our Eye Health Programs & Community Impact
Community Eye Screening
We organize regular mobile outreach programs to screen for eye diseases in rural and underserved communities, focusing on early detection of cataracts, refractive errors, glaucoma, and other common eye conditions.
Eye Surgery and Treatment
SOPOBO provides cataract surgeries, pterygium removals, and medical treatment for common conditions such as conjunctivitis, trachoma, and allergic eye disease often free of charge or at highly subsidized rates.
School Eye Health Program
We implement school-based vision screenings to detect vision problems among students. Children who need corrective lenses receive free or low-cost spectacles, and those requiring advanced care are referred to specialists.
Capacity Building
We train local healthcare workers and community volunteers to support eye health activities at the grassroots level, building sustainable systems for future generations.
Public Awareness Campaigns
SOPOBO runs community health education campaigns to raise awareness on preventable causes of blindness, the importance of eye hygiene, regular check-ups, and early intervention.
